Your domain is your business's permanent address on the internet — changing it later costs traffic, trust, and Google ranking. It's worth spending a few minutes to get it right from the start.

1. Prefer .com when possible

For most businesses, .com is the safest, most recognizable choice. Country-specific extensions (like .com.br) work well when you're targeting a specific local market exclusively.

2. Short, easy to say and to type

If a customer has to spell out your domain over the phone or often mistypes it from memory, you're losing traffic. Avoid hyphens, numbers, and words that are hard to pronounce out loud.

3. Avoid copying competitors

Domains too similar to established brands create confusion and, in some cases, legal issues. A unique name that works as a brand on its own is the goal.

4. Register variations before someone else does

If your budget allows, register both the .com and local-extension versions of the same name, plus common typos — it protects your brand from scammers registering similar domains for phishing.

5. Check social media availability too

A perfect domain doesn't help much if the same name is already taken on Instagram or elsewhere. Check availability together before finalizing the decision.
